Childhood & Early Dance Career
Michael Jackson, Usher, Missy Elliot - Vanessa began her dance journey as a competitive hip-hop dancer with the age of 7.
"Our choreographies have always been a story which we were telling by dancing. From dark, scary emotions to happiness, joy and laughter - we loved to express the story through dance."
During this time, she traveled throughout Germany with her crew "H2O", honing her skills and developing her passion for movement.
Exploration of Dance Styles
As she grew older, her interests expanded. Forró, Zouk, Samba de Gafiera - exploring Brazilian dances while living in Brazil. It became Vanessa's passion for many years and she traveled through Europe to dance mainly Forró. Later in Germany, she dived back into solo dancing and explored summer school classes at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance which further broadened her dance repertoire and understanding of different movement styles.
Discovery of West Coast Swing
In 2017, Vanessa found her passion in West Coast Swing. This discovery marked a significant turning point in her dance career. She immersed herself fully in the world of swing dancing, not only exploring West Coast Swing but also learning other swing dance styles such as Lindy Hop, Charleston, Vintage Jazz, Shag, and Balboa.
Professional Development & Certification
Vanessa's dedication to West Coast Swing was quickly noticed by her teachers and resulted in giving her the opportunity to assist in their classes.
"That was the moment that I realized, I love to teach dance."
Soon she moved to Augsburg, and started teaching regular classes each week.
During Covid, she started to co-develop a swing teacher's training program for the next generation of Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing teachers. All of this led her to become a certified teacher's teacher through the Hep Cat Club in Augsburg, Germany's largest swing dance school.
International Career
Since Vanessa started actively pursuing her teaching career, she had the opportunity to travel & teach globally—including the United States, Latin America, and Asia.
"During these travels, I study, teach, judge, and compete in West Coast Swing events."
She regularly conducts workshop weekends both nationally and internationally, while also maintaining weekly classes in Munich.
Health & Wellness Coaching
Expanding her skillset, Vanessa became a certified Health & Wellness Coach. This certification has greatly influenced her approach to dance instruction.
"I root my teaching in anatomy, which allows me to explain techniques with precision and clarity. I help my students understand and differentiate between styles, techniques, and influences in West Coast Swing, emphasizing the connection between physical body & muscle awareness and movement."

Driven by a passion for growth and innovation, Vanessa expanded her impact beyond the dance floor. She founded her own company called Managing Motion.
